JUBILEE RIFLE MEETING.

' MATTERS WELL IN HAND. EXCELLENT SCORINU BY AUSTRALIANS. By Telegraph—Press Association. TRENTHAM, March 3. Matters are well in hand for the opening of the Jubilee Meeting of the Rifle Association for to-morrow. For several days competitors have been hard at practice. The Australians have done excellent scoring. Armourer Sergeant Cutler, of New South Wales, putting up 101 out of a possible 105 at 800, 900 and 1,000 yards. Tdis is a record for ranges it: New Zealand. At' present the entries total 579, , and it i 3 expected that 600 will be reached before the shooting starts. To-morrow, among the ex-champions taking part, are— Ching. Hyde, R. J. King, W. S. King and Milroy. There are also a number of prominent New Zealand shots attending. Among them — Wills, South Island Champion; Kum-

mtr, Wairarapa Champion; James, winner of the Victorian Syme aggregate; Halliday, top scorer in the Empire Match.. Fiom Victoria comes Surgeon-Major Mac Knight. Shooting will start to-morrow at 9 a.m. with the Volunteer and Rifle Club Matches. The first* match of the championship series will be started in the afternoon, if time permits.
