MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL AUTUMN SHOW. The Masterton Horticultural and Industrial Society will hold their annual Autumn Show in the Town and Drill Halls on Wednesday next. The programme that has been compiled is both varied and suitable, and offers good scope to horticulturists generally. Every variety of fruit that can be grown in this district, and also all kinds of seasonable flowers should be shown in profusion. Vegetable, home industry, school children and amateur photography classes, are included in thd programme, and keen competition is expected in all these sections. The energetic committee are fully alive to the requirements, and desires of exhibitors and visitors, and haVe all arrangements for Wednesday's Show well in hand. At this period of the year there ts always a profuse display of flower blooms, in all gardens, and the exhibition at the Show in respect to this particular class, promises to be an exceptionally good one, especially as the present season has been favourable to the growing of flowers. The fruit display also promises to be superior to any previously shown. The home industries section will no doubt be one of considerable interest to ladies. In the fancy work classes many beautiful and useful articles are expected to be shown. Children under sixteen will have a chance of showing: their ability in respect of various household duties, including home laundry work, sewing, patching, cooking, etc. The programme, it must be admitted, is n spiendid one, and the Show gives every indication of proving an unqualified success. Intending exhibitors are reminded that the entries will close with the secretary, Mr N. H. James, this evening, at 9 o'clock, at his office, Perry street. A troohy valued at three guineas will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in prizes.
