The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 23rd instant:—Tallow: The market has advanced 6d per cwt. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly sale at Eketahuna yesterday. Both sheep and cattle pens were well rilled, but shvep of all descriptions met with a very dragging sale. However, we quitted the bulk of our yarding before the day closed. Cattie sold well at late rates. We quote:—Two and 4tooth wethers to lis 3d; 2-*:ooth wethers, 10s to Us; fat ewes, 8s 6d; breeding ewes, best sorts, 7s to 9s b'd; poorer sorts, 4s 6d fo 7s; 2tooth evves to Us lOd; woolly lambs, 4a to 7s 3d; shorn Jambs, 3s 6d to 7s: rams, 10s 6d to three guineas. Cattle: 2£ year to 3 year steers, £4 6s to £4 13s; store cows. £3 to £3 6s; cows in calf to £3 lis Messrs Abraham and * Williams, Ltd., report on their Eketahuna sale yesterday as follows: —We submitted a very heavy entry of sheep to a large attendance of the public, the yards being taxed to their utmost, I the overplus having been accomoI dated in the New Zealand Loan and I Mercantile Agency Company's yards. Buyers from a distance were present, but adopted a cautious attitude, and the sale dragged throughout. However, we gold the bulk of the yarding, but at prices on th 3 whole which were in favour of purchases, with the exception of lambs which sold readily, especially culls. Messrs Kebbell Bros.' ewes made lis, the topi price of the season for aged cast [ sheep, and must be considered reasonable at that figure. A line of 674 aeed ewes in low condition, on behalf uf l Mr W. R. Godfrey, Kongomai, made | 8s Id to 8s 3d; 2-tooth ewes from same vendor, 10s 4d; aged ewes, on behalf of Mr J. P. Lowe3, made 8s 6d; cull 2 tooths, 10s 3d. A good entry of cattle came forward, including some nice conditioned two-year j steers, which sold readily.fa complete : clearance resulting. We also offered j several lots of rams, a pair of one- i shear Southdowns bred by Mr S. R. Lancaster making 4J to fif guineas.
