Afterthought finished in front of Euroclydon over a mile, and Osiris was rather better than Aberration over a similar distance. Sunbonnet, Riflemaid and Thera ran five furlongs, and finished in that order. Merrie Rose galloped a mila in good style, and Rose Herald and Merrie Emerald went six furlongs separately. Vite ran freely over half a mile, while Critic and Kiltie Lass were together in a nicely run five furlongs. Pukewai, Campaign and Skye did slow work, and Tumut and First Consul were out, but not worked.

In 1883 Lady Emma won the Forbury Handicap, and in 1884 the Provincial Handicap, Dunedin Cup and D.J.C. Handicap, About, twentyfive years ago the subject of this notice started the Warrington stud, and has bred quite a number of firstclass horses, some of which he raced, while others were sold and performed for numerous leading sportsmen. The principal stud horses were Thunderbolt, Ruberzah!, Clair and Lord Rosslyn, and among the brood mares were Lady Emma, Lady Gertrude, Mountain Lily., jLegerdemaia, Lady Evelyn, Mist and Mistral Among the racehorses bred at the Warrington stud may be mentioned Euroclydon, Blazer, Blizzard, Vladimir, Pampero, Lady Evelyn, Dilemma and Maremma.
