RIFLE SHOOTING.
A REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE. Some remarkably good shooting was recorded at the Fairview Range on Saturday afternoon at a practice match he'd by several members of the Opaki Rifle Club. The flhooting was over the 200, 500 and 600 yards ranges, in which Rifleman M. Mcintosh put up scores of 34, 35, 35, respectively, his total of 104 being only one less than the possible for the three ranges. The score is a remakable one, and it is understood to be equal to the record of the Dominion, and has certainly never been exceeded. The total is two points higher than has ever been made by any member of the local Club. The conditions of shooting were favourable, the weather being dull, and there was not much wind. Excellent shooting was also done by Rifleman J. McKenzie, his scores of 34, 34. 31, making up the handsome total of 99. Rifleman W. J. Welch and A. Beetham were also in good shooting form, putting up the respectable totals of 96 each. It is worthy of mention that all the shootfsts used the B.S.A. aperture sight. / AUSTRALIANS FOR BISLEY."
