NEWCASTLE STRIKE.
OWNERS AND MEN,
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright,
SYDNEY, February 19,
In a statement handed to the press, the Northern mine owners show that they have no intention of accepting unequivocal resumption of work. The statement makes clear that the owners' terms for granting a conference are:—
When the Wages Board meets again the miners must submit their grievances. The pits must be ready to receive the miners on Wednesday morning, and the miners be ready to go to work at the usual time and under the old
conditions. When these conditions are complied with the Wages Board will then proceed with its work. The South Clifton is the only southern mine idle, work being blocked by an old-standing local difficulty.
