RECENT QUEEN STREET FIRE.
ARREST OF TWO CHINESE.
The sequel to the fire which broke out in the shop of Uen Gen, a Chinese fruiterer, on Monday evening, occurred last evening. Ever since the fire Sergeant Miller has been instituting a most careful investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case, and as a result of these enquiries the Sergeant early last evening, in company with Constable Dunn, arrested Uen Gen and Wong Gee, who were on the premises at the time of the fire. The news of the arrest, when it became known last
evening, caused some excitement among local Celestials, several of whom haunted the vicinity of the lock-up till a late hour. The two accused will be brought before the Magistrate's Court this morning, and charged with attempted incendiarism.
