TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES IN TROUBLE.

A LENIENT VIEW,

By Telegraph —Press Asscoiation WELLINGTON, February 14.

A tramway motorman and a conductor were convicted to-day of stealing a purse and contents, of the total value of £ll. The Magistrate, Mr Riddell, remarked that he thought the ends of justice would be met by taking into consideration that the accused had made restitution as far as possible, if they were merely ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. He added that he hoped that neither would again appear in Court.
