Captain Kueke and Lieutenant Nicholson, of the Salvation Army, were given a welcome in the Barracks last evening. At the meeting of' Tr jslees. yesterday, at which Mr J. D. Wilson, presided, a committee consisting of Messrs E. B. Hare, G. G. Barker, senior, chief assistant of the Veterinary Laboratory, and who is in charge of the Pathological exhibits of the Department of Argiculture, which were on view at the recent show, gave a very interesting discourse on Pathology.SpeakiiiK of mammitis in cows Mr Barker said the disease was a most contagious one, and a man milking a cow with this complaint was liable to n-*3s it on to all the other cows i >it he. milked. With regard to w -ins in horses, cattle and sheep, something should be given the animals, not only to kill up the worms, but to build up the system afterwards. Willi regard to hydatids, Mr Barker spoke strongly on the large number of dogs about the country that were practically useless, and it was through dogs that human beings contracted this disease and in New Zealand there was 25 per cent, more hydatids, in comparison to the Old Country. A certain number of dogs were essential in this country, but their place was outside of private houses, and he warned parents against letting dogs lick their little one's hands. The speaker illustrated his lecture, which was most interesting, by the specimens

of various sampl.s of different diseases in torses, sheep and cattle which he had on exhibition, and no donbt many present were told some plain home facts about their stock which they had little idea of.
