SERIOUS COLLAPSE OF RECLAMATION FACE

£25,000 DAMAGE. By Telegraph—Press Asscoiation. AUCKLAND, February 10. About 1.30 o'clock this m>rnihg, 350 feet of the northern face of the reclamatiDn area at Freeman's Bay, which is part of the wharf extension scheme, collapsed. The face was composed of ferro-concrate piles and concrete slab?. The Harbour Board has been pumping spoil from the dredge into .the reclamation area, and evidently the pressure from the spoil and water against the face was too heavy, so'that at low water it gave way. The damage is estimated at not less than £25,000.
