(By "Zetland.") Mataari is still doing satisfactory work at Clareville, and as he is keeping sound will be striding along in good style now that tne spring is out of the racing tracks. Gold Bird, who promises to be a useful hurdler, has been sold, but is still a member of H. Fletcher's team at Tauherenikau. R. Knox will probably take No Trumps and Full Rate through to the Taranaki meeting, which opens next week at New Plymouth. Tyrannic, winner of the Second Hurdles at Gisborne last week, has won more hurdle events this season than any other horse in the country. Previous to winning a double at the Takapau meeting Truganini had not scored for nearly two years. She had, however, an unvenviable record of seconds. The wisdom of properly placing the Merriwee mare was exemplified last week, and her owner is doubtless sorry tftat he did not decide earlier to race her in more moderate company than she has hitherto been asked to meet. Class will be better represented than usual at the Whakataki meeting which takes place this month. Swallow, now named All Gold, recently sold by Mr W. Tully to a Wellington sportsman, won the principal event at Miramar last Saturday. Guiaaforte, winner of two races at Riccarton last week, was reported to be wrong in the wind when at Trentham recently. As he scored there, and then won at the Canterbury meeting at a mile, and a mile and a quarter, there cannot be anything seriously wrong with the Multiform colt. Gold Thread has been sl.i>'.)sd to Sydney, and will be racing in Australia next month. Moloch, now beim- trained by WDavies at Trenthaii., is to be schooled over hurdles shortly by A. McConnon. If he shows aptitude in this department he should be decidedly useful, as he is sound and has proved himself a stayer. Present favourites for the Wanganui Cup are Husbandman, Taskmaster and Diabolo. When the weights are allotted some others may be equally as much fancied as those mentioned. Sir Lethe will probably make his re-appearance at the Woodville meeting this month.
