Messrs Daigety and Co., Ltd.,, report having held their fortnightly sale at the Waipoua yards yesterday. A large entry of sheep and fair entry of cattle has to be recorded. Sneep came in fully up to advertised numbers, and we yarded 4,000 of all classes, some of the lines which came under the hammer being of exceptionally good quality. There was a 'large and representative gathering of farmers and graziers, and the sale throughout was animated and late prices were fully maintained for lambs and wethers whilst ewes were keenly sought after. The quality of the yarding in ewes, wethers and lambs was far above the average, and as was to be expected some very keen competition took place for the top lines which were offered for the ordinary lines of ewes, wethers and lambs, prices were <on a par with rates lately ruling. In ewes we offered an exceptionally fine lot on account of Mr C. a. Cameron, of Flat Point Station. It is seldom that such ewes come on the market through the yards. Just one thousand were in the line, and they were carefully drafted up according to age. The first line of 416 offered were 4tooth ewes, and after keen competition Mr J. A. Groves, of Awatea, bought the line at 15s lid. The 6tooth ewes (120) were purchased by Messrs Percy Bros, at 15s, and the same firm bought the ewes (130) at 13s 4d. One hundred and fifty five'year-old ewes were purchased by Mr T. Ingey at lis 3d. The ewes came in in splendid condition, and showed exceptional quality.. We also had a good yarding of wethers and a good sale took place for all lines offered. On account Barton Bros, we offered a line of 500 really good 2 tooths, and these brought the satisfactory price of 11b. Other 2-tooth wethers Drought from 9s 4d to 10s 7d, according to quality. Lambs sold fully up to late rates, and we quote as follows: Shorn lambs, good, 7s M; medium, 5s 6d to 6s 9d; inferior, from 3s Id to 3s lOd; woolly lambs, medium, from 6s lOd to 7s 6d inferior from 4s to 5s 2d. Prices for old ewes were unhanged by all lines offered found buyers at late rates Prices ranged from. 6s to 8s 8d for fair sorts; 2tooth ewes 10s 4d to lis 6d. With the exception of a small pen of -shorn lambs we have to report a total clearance, and taking the sale all through prices w <-»•<& very firm, and competition sound and good. In cattle nothing of exceptional merit was offered, but competition for all lines that came under the hammer was good.
