A meeting of the Trustees of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust will be held on Friday evening next.
The Engineer of the Masterton County Council was instructed at the meeting yesterday, to prepare plans and specifications for the renewal of the Te Hoe Bridge, at Alfredton.
The secretary of the Masterton Technical School wrote to the Masterton County Council yesterday, asking that body to nominate a candidate for election to the Board of Management. On the motion of the Chairman (Mr W. J. Welch) the following resolution was carried: "That this Council is satisfied with the present management, and does noc wish to nominate anyone outside.
Mr G. C. Branson requests us to state that he wishes all the members of the Gipsy Encampment, and those members of the Amateur Theatrical Society, who are willing to participate in a parformance.to take the form of a Gipsy Encampment, to b« played during Show week in connection with the St. John Ambulance Bazaar, to attend a rehearsal in the Exchange Hall on Friday evening, at 7.30 p.m.

The MauriceviUd Rifle Club fired the fourth competition of the Club's aggregate series on Saturday last, the following are the scores, the ranges being 500, 600 t.i 1 700 yards: —R. F. We have been asked to notify again for the benefit of those interested in the competitions in connection with St. John Ambulance District Nurse Fund Bazaar, that the subject for the prepared speech is "That the further progress of Masterton depends on the increase of its local industries " The competitions are set down on the programme to commence on Tuesday, the 15th. On Monday, the 14th, the opening night, the Y.M.C.A. Physical Culture Class, under the direction of Mr R. 0.-Jar-rett, instructor, will give a grand gymnastic display, and comic boxing, Black v. White. Programmes for the rest of the week will be announced in a day or so.
Mr G. Laing-Maeson, engineer for the Opaki-Lansdowne water supply Hchenie, reported to the meeting of the County Council yesterday that the hydraulic rams and other parts of the Lansdowne water supply works were in excellent condition', and running well.
The ordinary meeting of Stonehenge Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held last evening, in the Dominion Hall, Bro. C. H. Anderson, A.D., presiding. Visiting brethren were present from C-rterton, Greytown and Eketahuna, .; i the occasion of the visit of Brr. A. Thompson, G.G., to Masterton. After routine business had been transacted proceedings took the form of a social evening, during: which Bro. Thompson gave a very able and interesting address on ism, which was listened to with attention. The D.P. Bro. Nicholls also gave an interesting addiess. The usual toasts were proposed and responded to.

Tenders, to close on February 28th, are invited by the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company, Limited, for constructing buildings for a freezing works, to be erected at Waingawa, near Masterton. Plans may be seen at the office of the engineer and architect, Mr A. S. Mitchell, at Wellington, or at the Company's office, Perry Street, Masterton.
A Palmerston North Press Association message states that Alfred Broadbenfs butter-box factory at Rongotea was destroyed by fire this morning, by the explosiun of a lamp in the eDgine room. There was practically no insurance, and much inconvenience will result because several butter factories' supply of boxes will be cut off.
