PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs Harold M. Bennett leave Masterton this morning, to join to-morrow's Sydney boat. They will spend a week in Sydney, and then leave for England via Suez. It is their intention to spend two years at home on pleasure and business combined, returning via the United States of America. Mr Bennett was for many years in business as chemist at Dannevirke, and has lately been relieving at Mr Etons and Mr St. George's, locaal chemists. The funeral of the late Mr H. E. Gardner took place at the Masterton Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The cortege was a large and representative one.. A large number of floral tributes, testifying to the great esteem and respect in which the deceased was held, were laid upon the grave, including one trom the RangitiKei Sawmillers' Associaton. Rev. A. T. Thompson was the officiating clergyman. A quiet wedding was celebrated at St. Mark's Church, Wellington, yesterday, the contracting parties being Mr K. Jackson, son of Mr H. W. Jackson, of Masterton, and Miss Mary Eastnope, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. M. Easthope, of Masteron. The bride was given away by her father, and Mr N. E Jackson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
Mr and Mrs Frank Haughey and family will leave by the early morning train to-day for their new home in the North at Piriaka, near Taumauranui. Mr Haughey intends to follow farming pursuits, of which he had a good deal of experience. On the occasion of severing His connection with the staff of Messrs Hyde and Co., furniture manufacturers, Mr Haughey wbs the recipient of a presentation consisting of a silvermounted pipe and case. Mr A. Welch (foreman), who made the presentation, expressed in a few well chosen words the respect and goodwill which his fellow employees had for Mr Haughey, who responded in suitable terms.
