PROPOSED GIFT OF A CHAIR. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCB, January 31. Lieut.-Colonel R, Heaton Rhodes, M.P, has offered to gwe the Board of Governors of the Canterbury College a subsidy of £2OO per annum towards the support of a chair of military science at the Canterbury College, provided the chair at college is the only one established in New Zealand. At a meeting of the Board of Governors to-day the offer was accepted and the chairman was authorised to communicate with the Government on the matter, and as certain what support they will give to the proposed chair at the Canterbury College.
