Mr J. C. Boddington* reportfl that the rainfall since midnight on Friday to 9 a.m. yesterday was 2.78 inches.

The register on Saturday morning read *43 points, Sunday 95 points, and Monday 1.40 inches. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 31. The Rev. D. C. Bates this evening issued the following weather summary and forecast: —Heavy rain has fallen in most parts of the j Dominion. The low pressure area has extended over the whole country, and the high pressure now due in the South has not yet shown definite signs of development, and is probably decreasing. 'Present indi cations are for further unsettled weather, colder and wet generally. The barometer will probably continue low in the North for several hours, but rise fast in the South shortly. Strong easterly winds will probably prevail north of New Plymouth and Napier; south-easterly gale elsewhere.

Practically continuous rain has been falling since Friday night, the record up to 9 a.m. this morning being 2.35 inches, th 6 heaviest for a long time. No reports are to hand of any damage on railways. Thick weather has delayed coastal shipping, and work on the wharves has been much impeded.
