((From tQur 1 Carterton 'Correspondent.)

The Finance Committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society met at Carterton yesterday afternoon, when the treasurer's statement and comparison in the past two years was received and considered very encouraging. Mr H. R. ißunny, President, expressed the gratification it him to hear that the affairs of the Association were in such a sound position, and that the show, which was a the district, was so successful, both from an educational and a financial point of -view. Accounts amounting to £l7 15s<3d were passed for payment. The General Committee met later, attendance not being large, due to harvesting operations. •It was decided that in the interests •of the society the Ram Fair should not be established this year, as it was thought a better course to pursue would be to hold a. stock fair about show time. A latter was received from the Canterbury A. and P. Association, asking that a delegate be appointed to attend the conference to be held with a view to improving the meat export trade. —The President reported that Mr Elgar had already been appoint ed, and the appointment was confirmed. The secretary was instructed to

have the names of Messrs Ellis Bros, and Nelson Bros, engraved on the Challenge Cup awarded for most» points in Southdown sheep, both tie-; ing for first place with 23 points. It was resolved that the score of both competitors should not count as a win. The members decided that the time was not ripe to ta&e over the Poultry Association with a view of holding a wiuter show. In reply to inquiries made, tfce President stated that no reply so far had been received from the Minister of Agriculture in regard to the Government's acceptance of Mr Buchanan's offer of £6,000 for an experimental farm.
