Messrß Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows on their Eketahuna sale:—At our sale yesterday we submitted a large yarding in both sheep sheep and cattle. Buyers were present from the Lower Wairarapa to Manawatu. Cattle maintained late values throughout and soid freely. The demarifl for wethers and lambs suitable for rape purposes was decidedly firm, with a slight tendency in favour of vendors towards the end of the sals. Ewes of indifferent character found buyers at their value. Fat ewes brought current rates. Young ewes for breeding purposes were in request, but generally failed to reach owner's ideas of value. The following prices were obtained: —Wethers, 10s 8d to lis 2d, the latter price beiong principally for fourtooths ; fat and forward ewes, 8s 6d to 9s 7d, according to quality; soundmouth breeding ewes up to lls6d; cull ewes, 3s 9d to ss; shorn lambs up to 6s 6d, culls, 3s to 4s 3d; woolly rape lambs, 6s 4d to 8s 7d for specially good. No material alteration in prices for cattle. Messrs Dalaety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale in their Eketahuna yards yesterday, when both sheep and cattle came in considerably over advertised numbers. Our yarding of sheep comprised 1,600 of all classes, and some really good lines of lambs and wethers came under the hammer. Prices all round were firm at lateTrates, and with the exception of one line of lambs a total clearance was effected. Prices ranged as follows:—Good woolly rape lambs, 7s lid to 8s Id; shorn rape jambs, 6s 6d to fis lid; medium woolly lambs, 6s 3d; f.f. mouth ewes, lis 6d, aged ewes, 6s to 7s 6d; twotooth, ewes, lis 6d; fat and forward ewes, 7s 3d to 8s 6d; two-tooth wethers up to 9s Id; two and fourtooth wetheis, mixed line, 10s 9d. We also had a good yarding of cattle,
340 head being penned, and sales were effected at late rates. Eighteenmonth steers, £3 2s to £3 12s; twoyear heifers, £3 Is to £3 10s; weaners, 255; fat and forward cows, £3 lis to £4; three-year steers, £4 19s; springing heifers, £3 17s 6d to £4 10s. For the remainder of the summer months the combined auctioneers will conduct weekly sales in their Eketahuna yards.
