By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 2«?. The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast:—Variable and moderate to strong winds have prevailed, with warm and cloudy weather in the JNorth, and showery on the East Coast of the South Island. A low pressure area is developing in the North, in advance of an in the South. Present indications are for a southerly gale, with heavy rain in most parts of the country, the rear and southern portion of the low pressure uniii with the south-easterly winds of the oncoming hi?h pressure system.
