METEOROLOGICAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 27. The following is the Kev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast:—-A smart westerly disturbance passed in the South on Wednesday evening and to-day; the winds have been generally light and variable, with hazy and cloudy weather. Since 9 a.m. the barometer has fallen two-tenths at Cape Campbell, but has risen ovejr one-tenth at Napier. Ihe present indications are somewhat ominous of a change developing. A falling barometer with variable winds, increasing cloudiness and misty rain in parts, probably preceding a strong southerly with stormy weather. The barometer will probably rise in the South by to-morrow evening.
