WELLINGTON RACES. ] By Telegraph—Press Association, WELLINGTON, January 26. R Ideal weather again prevailed for the third day of the Wellington Racing Club meeting. The attendance was well up to expectations. There, were good fields m every instance, while all the events were dispatched promptly. Close finishes were the order of the day. Bobrikoff's sensational victory in the Summer Handicap uet with general approbation, and for his scoring a New Zealand record he received a great ovation from the public. The sum of £17,538 was invested on the machine against£l7,l37 for the corresponding day last year ;£51,062 passed through during the three days, as against 6,222 last meeting. The bookmaker's fees to-day amounted to £465 10s. Results Wallaceville Welter, lOOsovs, 6 furlongs.—T. Wilson's Toanga 8.5, 1; Faunus 2, Undecided 3. Also started —"Succession, Kildonian, Magneto, Subdue. Won by a head. Time, lmin 15sec. Meloae Handicap.—Sir G. Clifford's Sharpshooter B.la. i; >-ari z, 2•..Swimming Belt 8.10, 3. Also ran.—Sir Frisco, Wimmera, Bally -Shannon, Vi, Te Ru, Ukraine. Montreal, Miscast, Waiwareware. The winner lad half through the race, and won by two lengths. Time, 1 min 28 l-sse. Hopeful Stakes. —Sir George Clifford's Tenterhook 8.6, 1; Saxifrage 7.11, 2; Tribulation 7.6, 3. Also ran —Kohinoor, Formless, Varna, Sonite. The winner came away with a fine sprint in the last fifty yards, and won by half a length. Time, 49sec. Summer Handicap, 500sovs, one mile.—T. H. Lowry's Bobrikoff 10.1 (F. Wilson) 1; Effort 7.12, 2; Merrivonia 7.10, 3. Also ran—Crucinella, Tumut, Sir Tristram, Kilindini, and Te Puia. Bobrikoff put up a wonderful performance, winning as he liked with a length and a half to his credit in the New Zealand record time of lmin 36 l-ssec. He received a great ovation on returning to the enclosure. Selling Plate.—R. W. Paterson's Expansion, 8.0, 1; Ideate 2, Simplex 3. Also ran.—The Seer, Surmount, Lucretius, Thera. Cyrene, Alexis, Llanwern, Undecided. Won by two lengths, Expansion having displaced Ideate in the last hundred yards. Time, lmin 16 l-ssec. Kaitoke Handicap.—T. H. Lowry's Ambala 8.0, 1; Glenspring 2, Te Roti 3. Also started—Genius, Lares, First Battery, Mania, Gold Top. Won all the way by three lengths. Time, lmin 2sec.
Consolation Handicap.—Sir G. Clifford's Taskmaster 7.9, 1; Osiris % Iranui 3. Also started—Roosevelt, Waipaku, Woodhey, Paisano, Chanteuse, Chauvelin, Hilarian. Taskmaster made a fine finish, winning by three parts of a length. Time, 2min 2-ssec. City Handicap.— F. -Preston's Equitas 8.11, l;SilkWeb 2, Full Kate 3. Also started—Sunbonnet, Full Sail, Bollin, Multiple, White Cockade, Mon Ami, Warlock, Waiata. Won all the way by a length. Time, Imin 14 3-ssec. WOODVILLE NOMINATIONS.
