339 ELECTED UNOPPOSED. Newry—Mr J. J. Mooney, Nationalist. VETO OF THE LORDS. MR ASQUITH'S INTENTIONS. Received January 21, 8.25 a.m. LONDON, January 20. The Prime Minister (Right Hon: H. Asquith), at an election meeting at Largowa/d, in Fifeshire, stated, in replying to quentions, that he proposed to pass an Act of Parliament limiting the Lords' veto to the lifetime of a single Parliament. . i Mr Asquith declared himself in favour of manhood suffrage, subject to reasonable restrictions. He added, in reply to a further question, that he had always been an opponent of womanhood suffrage, which he considered was not good for the women or the State.
