Mr Arthur Wilson, who on behalf of the Imperial Government ht,s been investigating Canada's nickel resources, addressiig the Mines and Mineral Committee of the Dominion House of Commons, said that Canada possessed three-fifths of the world's store of nickel, the balance being in New Caledonia. An American Trust—namely, tha International Nickel Company of New York—controlled these areas, and Mr Wilson strongly urged that Canada should assume control of the country's nickel resources for the benefit of the Dominion and the Empire. Owing to the trust's control, the price was so high that only governments were ahle to buy the mineral. Tens of millions of tons in Canada were unexploited because tne trust did not wish yet to work them. The matter, Mr Wilson considered, was of Imperial urgency, and the 1 Government should assume charge of the nickel deposits in order to ensure to Britain an enormous advantage over all other countries In connection with the construction of battleship o . The co-nmittee decided to investigate the operations of the trust. '
