Y.M.C.A.
EXTENSION SCHEME,
There was only a moderate attendance ot members at last night's meeting at the Y.M C.A. to discubS the recommendation of the Board of Management, that a modified scheme of £SOO be gone on with. After the Secretary's report, showing the distinct mark of progress, had been made, and much discussion ensued, it was resolved: "that this meeting approves of the Board's recommendation re the proposed building scheme, and that the building of the gymnasium be proceeded with when the Board feels justified so to do." The General Secretary stated that permission to use the Dixon Street Swimming Baths had been granted free, with power to make charges for admission. The Swimming Carnival is to be held on February 24th, and will be almost wholly humourous. Help had been already forthcoming, and success is looked forward to. The question (|of an annual festival was discussed, and it was moved "that an annual festival be held in the Town Hall on Thursday, April 21st." It is intended to hold the festival on an extensive scale, and one worthy of the institution and the town. It will probably take up both afternoon and evening of this particular day. Before the meeting closed a small committee was elected to meet and confer with the Board of Management re ways cf means of raising this money for the building. This committee was given power to add to their number. Up to the present £l5O has been promised by the membership, outside help not having been obtained,
