(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday. Monday, Jaquary 24th is to be observed as Anniversary Day here. St. Mark's Sunday School will reopen on Sunday week, after the Christmas vacation. The annual picnic has been postponed indefinitely. Captain Adams, of the lochl staff of the Salvation Army, has received advice of his transfer to Norsewood South. Captain Rose, of Apiti,. will be the next officer here. Messrs T. H. Hughes and J. G. Moore have beer appointed a visiting committee by the local High School Commitee for the ensuing month. The local Gun Club will hold a trophy '"shoot" to-morrow afternoon. Following is a copy of the resolution forwarded by the Council of the local Chamber of Commerce to Mr James Brown, who has removed to Masterton:—"The Carterton Chamber of Commerce learns with sincere regret of the departure of Mr Jas. Brown and family from Carterton, a town in the affairs of which Mr Brown has taken a leading part for many years past. As a leader of public opinion in the press, as Mayor of the Borough, as a supporter of the dairying industry, and as a promoter of many local advantages,Mr Brown's services have been incalculable. When it became manifest that some such body as the Chamber of Commerce was neceasary to the well being ol Carterton, he took a prominent part in the movement, and by his own efforts kept the uhamber from dissolution during a somewhat critical period of its existence.. This Chamber sincerely hopes that the severance from Carterton of Mr Brown will not be complete, and tnat he may yet be enabled to see his way to return to Carterton. And, further, this Chamber wishes Mr and Mrs Brown and family all happiness and prosperity in the future with (above all) the full enjoymant of good health."
