To-morrow should piove a Red Letter Day in the history of the local Young Men's Christian Association. Of late steady progress has beeit made of the quiet order; although no startling innovations have been introduced, and seme features of the old order of things dropped. Finance still gives some concern, but looked at in the light of a much increased membership and 3 prospective in; crease of premises this ought not to concern the Board of Management long. Tn six months over seventy members have joined the Association, in spite of its cramped condition, and with the prospect of a really good gymnasium, a billiard room and a boys' department prQ» perly the march of 'membership not to wane for some time tQ tome. To-morrow's meeting will probably once and for ali settle the vexed question as to what shall be done towards extension. The sum of ii 1,500 was the amount of the first sfhfeme to be adopted, whilst at present it is thought that a less ambi- ! tious scheme ought to suffice. The Board of Management are recom • mending the addition of a scheme of extension costing £SOO, and it is this scheme that members will discuss «t the meeting. Other questions will arise. A report of the promsies so far realised will be given, and a profitable and interesting meeting ought to be forthcoming. His Wor ship the Mayor, Mr P. L. Hollings, will occupy the chair.
