THE STRANDED KAIPARA.
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 18. Extensive damage to the hull of the Kaipara has been discovered by the divers. A hole two feet square was found evidently where the vessel struck, and for 40 feet the seams are affected considerably. Four divers are plugging the seams, and a collision mat is being made for the large hole. The pumping test yesterday showed that the rent must be more effectively stopped before the pumps can cope'with'the water. The pumping by the Terawhiti will probably start to-morrow.
