By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 17. The following is Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast: —The barometer has fallen everywhere during the past thirty-six hours with increasing humidity and cloudiness. Rain set in to-day in most parts southward of New Plymouth and Napier, and is also threatening elsewhere. The present indications are for a further fall Jin barometric pressure and a continuance of cloudy and unsettled weather. Rain is probable generally with rivers flooded on the West Coast, freshening northerly winds are probable everywhere. The barometer may continue low and unsteady until Friday and afterwards rise steadily.
