Dr Shiver, of Munich, was cross ing the Alps when hia guide, Hermann Binner, of Zermatfc, slipped over a precipice on the Breithorn. The doctor held the man by a rope for two hours, and was almost exhausted, when a party of Italian, smugglers, who. were crossing the pass, rescued both.
