AMUSEMENTS.
"CARTER THE GREAT." Carter, the eminent magician who has recently completed a two years tour of the world, and who will appear at the Town Hall to-night, for one night only, demonstrates, says a contemporary, in his marvellous entertainment the possibility of calling Lack to life the spirit friend of any of the auditors who attend his performances In one part of his entertainment he produces an entire spiritualistic seance which he learned first hand from the mErvellous Yogi duri.ig his recent visit to Simla. In this demonstration a cabinet is built before the eyes of all beholders, and while Carter remains on the outside apparently miraculous manifestations are visible, chief among which Carter rematerialises the ghost of Katie King, which spirit creature Sir William Crookes saw appear and vanish in his own home under test conditions for three years, and there has been no more solemn assertion of any truth in the history of science than he has made of this statement.
