THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

The usual change of programme at , the Foresters' Hall drew a full house last night. The series presented is ! the best the Masterton public have , yet been favoured with. The picture , of "Nero and the Burning of Rome" j is a marvel of cinematography, and reflects great credit on both makers ( and exhibitors. The cruel Roman j Emperor is depicted in the height , of his notorious reign, ar.d the ; cruelties practised by him are dis- , played in a very vivid manner. Nero was responsible for some of the most revolting pastimes recorded in i history. The murder of his wife Oc- ' tavia, so that he could marry Pop- , pea, caused the outbreak into revolt' :of the Roman and to [ check this Nero gives the order for i Rome to be set on fire. It is a scene iof appalling grandeur to see the j magnificent city in flames. Another I picture which proved extremely interesting is one entitled "The | Meddlesome Boy." This lad is in the employ of a Professor of Science, and during that worthy mWs slumber the apprentice experiments with the appliances, and patrons are shown some wonders of microphotograhy. A drop of water would not be credited with so much life, and a piece of cheese" appears badly "over populated." "Maniiing the Lifeboat" is another subject worth seeing, and it is very elevating to see the heroes of the sea at work. Lovers of tea have a good chance of seeing their favourite beverage in process of manufacture from the tree to the pot. Several other pictures of high merit were shown. This programme will be shown to-night and Friday, and the usual change will take place on Saturday.
