EGGS FOR LONDON.
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, January 12. In Ocober of last year Mr J. B. Merrett, of Christchurch, forwarded a shipment of 14,000 eggs to London, and particulars of the returns just to hand are most gratifying. He adopted a method of preserving eggs on the French system of "vaporising" them in a machine, and it proved eminently satisfactory. The eggs landed in excellent condition without a single breakage, and sold at Is Id a dozeu in the open market. There is,he says, an unlimited demand for eggs in London during November, December and January, and this is fortunate fcr New Zealand where aggs are most plentiful, in August, September and October. Mr Merrett intends to make further shipments by the Corinthic this month.
