(From, Our Resident Keporter). Monday. Mr A. MeFarlane, chairman of the National Dairy Association, leaves for Wellington to-morrow on business connected with the Association. At Holy Trinity Church, Woodville, last week, Miss Louisa Toogood, daughter of Mr R. E. Toogood, li. : spactor of the Permanent Way, N.Z.K, was married to Mr Hugh McKenzie, of Gore, South Island. Miss Toogood, of Wairarapa, and Miss Cowie, of uore, acted as bridesmaids, and Mr Gilchrist was best man. After the ceremony, which was performed by Canon Eccles, a reception was held in the Foresters' Hall. Several horses arrived to-day, in readiness for the annual race meeting, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday next. Messrs E. B. Hare and Co. report the sale of Mr Redpatb's 200 acres at Nireaha; and Mr W. I. Husband disposed of Mr Dalziell's 130 acres freehold at Ballance to Messrs Olsen Bros. The wool waggons are still bringing in wool from the backblocks. The drivers state that the roads are bet : I ter this year than ever known before. A . tennis match Town versus the Country, was played on the.local courts on Saturday last. Some good play was witnessed, and the -games were evenly contested. The match, resulted in a win for the Town players. The Scarborough school picnic will be held shortly. Local bowlers were delighted today when the news came through that the tvo Pahiatua rinks at the Bowling Tournament in Wellington were successful in winning their first games to-day. The personnel of the rinks is the same as previously published, with the exception of Mr K. Ashcroft, who went in Mr C. J. Norton's place. A very long list of entries will be offered'by the local auctioneers at tbeP.F.A. yards to-morrow (Tuesday), commencing at 1 p.m. At the annual meeting of the Mangatainoka Library subscribers on Saturday, the election of one trustee to fill the position of the retiring trustee, Mr A. Barrell, resulted in that gentleman being re-elected. A satisfactory balance sheet was submitted, and the following were elected a committee for the ensuing year—Messrs G. W. Chatwin, R. Burke, Wakeford, C. Luke, M. Vance, E. Harvey, T. Dray, A. McPherson, R. Williams, J. May, D. Grut, H. Baliss. Mr Chatwin was elected president, -and Mr Luke treasurer. Yesterday the Boy Scouts who are camping out for a fortnight attended a morning church .service m the Methodist Church. The Pahiatua' County Council have decided to allocate yearly the sum of £IOO for the purpose of painting the various bridges in the County, and the Engineer was authorised to employ a man to screw up the bridges
