CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter). Saturday. Yesterday a large picnic party gathered at Kokatau at the invitation of Mrs Buckeridge, and spent a pleasant time. A five year old daughter of Mr R. Bailley, of Taratahi, met with an unfortunate accident last evening. Her father was engaged'milking, and the little girl was running about close to the bails, when a cow knocked her down and trod on her, dislocating and farcturing a thigh. The injured child was attended to by Dr Johnston. Some young ladies of the congregation ot St. Mary's Church are working energetically for a baazar to be held next month. Two of them have been entrusted to canvass for the ingredients for the making of a huge wedding cake which is to be raffled. The local Borough Council purpose adding the 10 pei cent, penalty on ui - paid rates after the 15th.
