Lambs: Canterbury ligbt 4gd, medium 4|d, heavy unchanged; Southland 4d, North Island unchanged. Beef: None offering. Australian sheep: Unchanged. Lambs: Best brands 3ld, fair quality 3|d; inferior quality 3£d. Beef: Fores 2£d, hinds 2gd. River Plate sheep: Heavy 3|d ; light 3£d. Beef Fores 29-16 d. hinds 215-16 d. Lambs unchanged. Weddell's annnual review of tbe meat trade estimates the total for 1909 from the worlds freezing works at 501,371 tons, whereof 488,720 came to the United Kingdom. The general improvement in the trade during the last quarter has already caused a . freer consumption in the United Kingdom.
