METEOROLOGICAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 5. The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast:—An-ti-cyclonic pressure now prevails everywhere, and moderate to strong south-westerly winds. Rain fell in many part during the night, while the barometer rose rapidly in the South. The present indications are for a further rise in the South, and though a low pressure area still threatens the Northern districts, it will probably be deflected by a rising barometer. Light and variable winds will probably prevail and fair weather generally, though the present conditions cannot yet be described as settled, and another low pressure area is due on Monday next.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Wednesday was 25 points.
