WILLIAMSON'S NEW COMIC OPERA COMPANY.
"A COUNTRY GIRL."
A season of one night of comic opera will be inaugurated by J. C. Williamson on Friday, January 28th, at the Town Hall. The occasion will be devoted to a fine and especially complete production of the charming musical comedy "A Country Girl." The company that will appear is identical, with the organisation that bas recently been creating so good in impression in Australia. Probably It is from a vocal point the most important that we have had for some rery long time, the bulk of the arista having beei. specially engaged n England by Mr Williamson for this ■nterprise. Mr Herbert Clayton, jaritone, oi distinction, hails from ;he Prince of Wales Theatre, Lonlon; Mr Frank Greene, from the Lyric Theatre, London; Miss Dorothy 3ourt> latejprima donna of the Savoy rheatre, comes with a splendid •eputation as a singer and actress. The "vital spark" is how Mr Henry \rcber, the great English critic, lesignated Miss Lottie Sargent, the :omedienne of the Company. Mr W. 3. Percy, a ' great favourite in New Zealand, and a comedian of proved ibihty, will appear as "Barry" in 'A Country Girl." Of the ladies Miss Olive Godwin, specially, will be Measurably remembered, whilst Miss ivy Scott, Ada Stirling, Alice Mitchell, are all artists of distinc,ion. The Company numbers over 100 jeople, and carries augmented ihestra, operatic chorus and ballet, md is generally spoken of as being ;he best musical organisation that Mew Zealand has had for many ?ears. The box be opened it Miss Rive's on Tuesday. January 25th.
