VICTORIA v. SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
Received January 5, 10 p.m. 1 MELBOURNE, January 5. Victoria, in their second innings, made 458 (Smith 146, Armstrong 124, Ransford 45, Delves 28, Kenny 27, Scott 24. Laver not out 23). Armstrong played an attractive forceful innings. His partnership with Smith on the previous day put on 170. Smith's was one of the best innings this season, the principal feature of which was his forceful driviog. South Australia have seven wickets down for 210 in the second innings (C. Hill 48, S. Hill 53, Woolcock 37, Crawford 4).
In their first innings the Victorians made 206, and the South Australians 3RO.
ENGLAND v. SOUTH AFRICA.
Received January 5, 11.55 a.m. CAPETOWN, January 4. In the First Test 'Match at Johannesburg against the English vi«iting team, the South Africans scored 354 irftbeir second innings. The Marylebone team in their second innings have lost .seven wickets for 144 runs.
In their first innings the South Africans scored 208 runs, making their aggregate 553. The Englishmen's first for 310'. As the game no stands, they are 99 runs behind their opponents, with three wickets to fall.
