VISIT TO QUEENSLAND.
MARCHING TESTS.
Received January 4, 10.10 a.m. BRISBANE, January 4. During yesterday's operations the infantry covered twenty miles, anc* the light horse forty miles. The troops took great interest in their work and finished fit and well.y The operations, whether [Lord Kitchener was aware of it or not were over country with which the forces were well acquainted. -*fS The Field-Marshal returned to Bris bane during the afternoon and inspected the cadets. He again hurried out to Lytton Camp, [and was keenly observant of the finishing stages of the day's work. In the evenine Lord Kitchener was entertained by the State Government at dinner in Parliament House. In the course of a spesch the distinguished guest praised the work of the Queensland troops in the Boer War, saying they did honour to themselves and credit to their State, and rendered valuable assistance to the Empire and to their comrades, of the regular Army. He expressed admiration of the general prosperity and development of Queensland.
