SCULLING.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WANGANUI, January 4. The scullers were on the river this morning and afternoon, all putting in solid work. Owing to the non-arrival of Arnst's boat, the steamer being delayed in Wellington, the champion rowed in Felton's boat- Arnst, though on the heavy side, showed great pace 7 surging along with a strong stroke. He gave the others, excepting Webb, Hagney and Felton, about a hundred yards start, and caught them in the two miles, though he cut off a corner while doing so. Felton is pulling well, as is Hagney, who is showing good form. Larsen, who has 19sec start, is sure to be among the placed men, as he is sculling strongly. Webb, although reported to be well, and who is sculling in good style, appears to be on the light side. Te Kawhiti has been doing good work, though it seams the general opinion that his handicap is not quite sufficient. Felton and Te Rawhiti go up the river in the morning, and will camp at Kaiwhaske till after the race.
