By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 3. The following is the Kev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast:—The barometer has risen everywhere, and the weather has continued unsettled and stormy in the southernmost districts. Rain has fallen on the West Coast of the South fsland. Strong south-westerly winds have prevailed north of East Cape and Kawhia. The present indications for a tailing barometer, with westerly winds backing to a northerly, and freshening generally. Rain is probable on the West Coast and the southern districts of the South Island, heralding a change in conditions. Hazy and more cloudy weather is expected elsewhere. Mr H. G. Groves, Bush Grove, reports as follows:—The rainfall for the month was 2.77 points. The maximum fall was 1.06 points on the 25th. Rain fell on twelve days. The maximum temperature was 93 on the 9th, and the minimum 45 on the 27th. The rainfall for Decebmer, 1908, was 3.94 points. The total rainfall for 1909 was 36.59 inches; for 1908, 38.92 inches; and for 1907, 53.73 inches.
