CYCLING.
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, January 3. At the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club's race meeting to-day the D.C.L. Amateur Challenge Shield, a two miles handicap resulted as follows:—F. H.. Ashorn, 90 yards, 1; E. T. Cunningham, 210 yards, 2; F. L. Murray, HOyards, 3. Time, 5 min 4sec. The meeting was promoted as a revival of cycle racing, and was well attended. The various events were keenly contested by a large I number of contestants.
