GLADSTONE CENTENARY
CELEBRATIONS IN VARIOUS PLACES.
CAPETOWN, December~3o. Gladstone Centenary Celebrations were h?ld at Capetown. The Premier ot Cape Colony, Mr J. X. Merriman, in the course of a speech, remarked that South Africa owed its advance to Union to Mr Gladstonince's priples. He hoped his name would be further associated with the making of what was now only a political construction into a practical working thing.
