CALEDONIAN SOCIETY'S SPORTS.
TO MORROW,
Arrangements ill connection with ! the Wairarapa Caledonian Society's j sports, which are to be held on the ' Showgrounds, Dixon Street, to-mor- < row, are well in hand, and given fine weather the attendance at this popular fixture should be a record one. Exceptionally good entries have been received for all tfte event, and some exciting finishes should result. As usual the hewing events will be a feature of the and no less than . sixteen axemen have entered for each of the competitions, viz., the underhand chop and the standing chop. Some idea of the importance of the meeting may be gathered from the fact that no less a sum than £213 is offered in cash prize. Luncheon and afternoon tea may be obtained on the ground, and during the day ttae Masterton Municipal Brass Band will render a number of musical selections. ' In the evt.ning a grand Caledjnian Concert will be held in the Town Hall. A good programme of vocal and instrumental items will be rendered, and a special feature will be the dancing and piping by the prize winners at the aports. During the evening the presentations of medals will be made to successful compatitors.
