The American Ice Company was fined £I,OOO for attempting a monopoly in the production and sale of ice, contrary to the Donnelly Law, in the New York State. "The Times'* New York correspondent, commenting on the fact, declares that the Federal law aganst inter-State monopolies is powerless against monopolies operating within the bounds of a single State, hence the necessity for complementary State legislation, wherever requisite, to assi9t Congress.
