FIRE ON A STEAMER.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph CopyrightReceived December 21, 10.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, December XL The steamer Ardgryfe, from Bahia Blanca, Argentina, had a thrilling experience for her maiden voyage. On 16th November a fire was dis • covered in the bunkers. It was got under after fifteen days' continuous hard work. Three hundred tons of coal was burned and jettisoned. The vessel was undamjged. NEW SOUTH WALES HARVEST, ESTIMATED WHEAT YIELD. Received December 21", 10.40 a.m. SYDNEY. December 21. The Government Statistician's midharvest es'imate of the wheat yield is 25,6000,000 bushels, the average being slightly over 14 bushela to the acre.
