RAILWAY TIMETABLE.
All along the line the new railway timetable appears to be regarded with disfavour. The "Hawke's Bay Herald," dealing with the subject, says:—"Our local bodies are still, and very naturally, agitated about the new time-table which a Ministry, careless of our interests and of our convenience, has thrust upon us. But there, seems to be a disposition to accept the Minister's declaration that the new timetable must have a two months' trial before any change is made. Now. we do not deny that the timetable having been announced and all arrangements made in accordance with it, it would only be reasonable to give the department a chance and to accept the new table without radical alteration for a reasonable time. But that is not quite the same thing as to cease agitation. The Minister knows that in two months' time Parliament wili have risen, and that he will be able ti defy us until next session begins. And the longer the new table exists the harder it will be to get it altered."
