IN FAVOUR OF THE FREEHOLD.
By Telegraph—-Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 13. A meeting of the Crown tenants in Cheviot on Saturday night carried a resolution in favour of the optional system of tenure. The resolution proposed was debated at considerable length, and at the conclusion of the debate a division was taken, 32 declaring for the freehold and 19 for the leasehold. The nieeting was very orderly, and good-humoured, and the result of the vote was received with cheers.
