BEST DAIRY COW COMPETITION.
WILL COMMENCE TO-DAY. ] The best dairy cow competition, under the auspices of the Masterton A. and P.f Association, will take place to-day, and the results will be known oil Monday next. Good entiies have been received and keen interest is being manifested in the competition by dairy farmers[throughout the district. The conditions are that a steward personally supervises each competing cow, attending the night before the test is taken to see her stripped satisfactorily. On the following day he will again attend to see her milked night and morning, under normal conditions. He will weight he milk and take the sample each time, which will be sealed in the presence of the owner, and subsequently'delivered to the secretary of the Association for the purpose of testing andjcomputing the calculations. One point is allowed for every pound of milk, ten points for each percentage of butter fat, and one point for every ten days over the first fourteen and up to one hundred and twenty days after calving. The result of the testing will be printed in the Catalogue of the Show. Owners of prize winning animals will be notified to bring their cows to the Show, but other owners need not bring theirs. Any prize won by an animal not present will be forfeited. All animals competing in this class are to be fed on ordinary pasture, and any artificial feeding will disqualify the animal.
