From Our Resident Reporter. Thursday. A movement is on foot here to form a branch of the Church of England's Men's Society. It is probable that the Rev. J. D. Russell, of Petone, will be invited to visit S. Mark's Parish shortly for the purpose of expl ainir/g the working of the Society, which has already secured a good footing in New Zealand.

The Clareville Maori College Chapel fund has received the following donations:—Rev. H. T. and Mrs Stealey, £4O; E. Balcombe Brown, £10; Maori Buys. £1 10s; S. A Pull, £1 Is; Rev. A. W. h. Very unsettled weather is being experienced here at the present time, and is tending to hamper haymaking operations. The main road at Dalefield is beirg metalled in places where it was much needed.

The dwellings in Rhodes Street are now being connected witH the drainage. The footpath in this street is securing much needed attention. Court Marquis of Narmanby, A 0.F., met last evenin? in the Foresters' Hall. Bro. A. J. Fisher, C.R., presided. Four brothers were declared upon the sick fund. Bm. p. Molloy thanked the brethren for the courtesy accorded him at the recent social, and wished the Court and brethren farewell. Rec ipt-i for the evening were £6 6s and disbursements £4 15s.

The ox-eye daisy, which comes under the scope of noxious weeds, has made is appearance in Feveral properties here, and the owners have been notified hy the Sjock Department to clear the same.

Mr P. Merewood, who has been laid up in the Wanganui Hospital with a fractured leg tor a number of week*, has sufficiently recovered as to be able to return to Carterton. The cradle roll of the local Methodist Sunday School has some 85 names upon it.

The scholarship and free place examinations, at the local High School, concluded this afternoon. Tie Rev. L. Thompson was supervisor.
